5 Great Work At Home Jobs-Not Just For Moms

Work at home jobs

Hello and welcome. I have been doing some research which has led me to write this post. Were you looking for work at home jobs that aren’t “just for moms”? I will uncover 5 great work at home jobs that aren’t just for moms.

I bet you have been to other sites that only pay attention to us moms, and/or they want you to pay a fee for their service.

I have also seen those sites that have 10 great work at home jobs for moms, but have a clause stating that the jobs listed are expired. They want you to click on a link for the new list? That is because they will charge you to use their service. I won’t mention names as that is not place.

I am not like most. I will do the research for you and GIVE it to you the results right now. The jobs will be for anyone, and I won’t charge you a dime for my service.

The legit work from home jobs I am about to show you are what I have found by researching them. I have not nor will I be working for them, nor does this mean I am referring you to them.

I do not earn any type of commission from them for including them in my post. I will however include you a link to an awesome platform I am a member of, but it will be at the end. If you DO SIGN up I will receive a commission IF you were to go premium.

Now that all of that is out of the way, let us get to what brought you here in the first place.

English As A Second Language

VIPKID hires teachers that like teaching ESL (English as a second language) online. You will teach students in China, ages 4-12 how to speak English. Don’t speak Mandarin Chinese? That is fine. You don’t have to.

The classes are online and are done through a VIPKID portal. This portal is like our Skype or Facetime. Keep in mind of the time difference.

You do need a bachelor’s degree or higher and teaching experience is highly recommended. BUT, if you can pass the inline interview and the mock lesson, you might get hired with teacher aid experience or possibly no experience in the classroom.

Your professional background will be discussed with an executive online and there will be lesson slides in a 10-minute demo you will need to participate in.

This company needs to see how you teach using their curriculum. During this time you need to be sure to use appropriate classroom techniques and ESL.

You will then receive training material to review. You will need to review this as you will prepare a full lesson for a mock lesson with a mentor.

For the mock lesson, you want to be sure to talk slowly and clearly. You need to get the timing right. Do not end it to soon or to late. Avoid extra talk.

The pay seems pretty good since most lessons are 25 minutes long and it is 1 student at a time. I kind of wish I had a degree. This sounds pretty interesting.

The pay is between $7 to $9 per class. If you teach a minimum of 45 classes each month and aren’t late you can also get an extra $2.00 per class. That equals out to $18 to $20 an hour having 2 classes an hour. Heck yeah.

Here is the link if you would like to check it out for yourself. Teachers can be male or female and either one can apply. For VIPKID click here.

The chat shop is looking for people who love interacting with people. Do you go above and beyond to help others? Are you interested in learning about different types of services/products?

The chat shop provides live chat to its business customers. Don’t worry about not knowing how you will do this since you don’t know what type of product or service you will be helping customers with.

You will be provided training, knowledge and tools to be able to provide customer support on business that you might not have come across before. Talk about an interesting job. At least it sounds like it to me.

The skills you will need are as follows:

  • Native -level English with outstanding sentence structure, spelling and grammar
  • High levels of organization and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to multi-task and stay focused in high pressure situations
  • meticulous learner and inquisitive mind

The above list on skills are per the website itself.

This is one that isn’t for someone with young children or vostrice 4 legged family members. You need to have a distraction free place to work and reliable internet of course.

I didn’t find anything in regard to the pay, but if they accept your application, their recruitment team will contact you to set up you live chat interview, assessment test, and a phone interview. Be sure to have your references available. You will need them.

To check out the chat shop. While I was checking the site out a popup window came up asking if I wanted to chat. I of course clicked away from the page. I decided to go back and talk to someone and I am including the conversation below.

Needless to say, I didn’t find out anything more than what I discovered from researching the site. You can check out blogs from some of the current employees on the site as well. Let’s see what else I found that isn’t just for us moms.

Amazon Is Hiring

That’s right! Amazon is hiring those who wish to work from home. Work from home with Amazon. They currently have 228 full time listings.

I have never heard of this. It seems that due to so many of us searching to work from home, more companies are coming up with ways to make this happen.

Amazon jobs hiring for virtual locations have quite a few openings. Of course I can’t list them all. However, you are more than welcome to check that link and do some investigating on your own.

BDM – U.S. State and Local Health and Human Services is the one I chose to write about. Are you able to come up with excellent sales strategies?

Would you like to help Amazon establish its cloud platform with the State Health And Human Services? Then this could be for you.

You will need some background with the health and human service. Either working directly with or in a state, local, or federal HHS organizations on HHS technology initiatives. (Exact wording from website).

Basic Qualifications as per website include:

  • 8-10 years professional experience
  • Minimum 3 years in the technology industry
  • Experience working with senior HHS officials
  • Experience in business development or sales and driving revenue

I did not come across the pay for employment with Amazon. If you are wanting a work at home opportunity I would definitely check their site out as previously stated. They have the largest amount of listings that I have come across.

The site was updated four days ago. It is highly unlikely that you will find one no longer available like you would if you were using (not naming names) site to find a job.

U Haul- No Moving Or Driving Required

This is just more proof of how companies are turning to those who are looking for those work from home opportunities. I am shocked at how many business are offering this.

Inbound sales and reservations agent is what I am going with on this one. U Haul doesn’t have as many as Amazon did, but there are a few.

You would be taking incoming calls (I know. I tried to stay away from the ones requiring you to be on the phone) and answering questions about products or rentals as well as secure and schedule reservations.

  • Great opportunity for students, teachers, second job
  • Work from home – No commute
  • Take incoming calls only – No outbound calls
  • Three weeks of instructor-led paid training/education
  • Base plus bonus – Potential to earn $14-$18 per hour (average base plus bonus)* The pay isn’t that bad.
  • Moonlighter benefits include: Medical Reimbursement Indemnity Plan, Rx Savings Plus Discount Plan, Dental Plan, Vision Plan, Retirement Savings 401(k) Plan

To check out U Haul work from home, click here. When you get to the site you will click on “view job listings” as pointed out in the picture below.

  3. Work at home jobs requires some skill and experience, but also these jobs provide you flexibility and the ease of working from the home without sacrificing all the comforts.
    Thank you for this article!

    Cheers!

    • Thank you Mario.
I think you just summed up the main reasons we look for jobs online.
Especially for us parents. It also allows us to be home with our children.
Their are just as many fathers who are looking as well as moms, and those who aren’t parents.
Having the flexibility to work and also do my motherly/wifey duties makes my lice much more simple.

  5. Hi Lee Ann, you have posted some excellent ideas here, thank you. It is hard for folks to find legitimate working from home opportunities, and disheartening when almost everything you click on isn’t what it originally seemed. I agree that blogging and writing from home is a wonderful and flexible way to make money from home, regardless of your gender or parental status. It’s truly for anyone who likes to write!

    • Great point Melissa.
with so many of us turning to the online world looking for our work from home opportunity, looking in the wrong place tends to slowly rob us of the dream to do so.
Many give up because of coming across those that aren’t what they seemed.
I hope to be able to help parents, or anyone looking to work from home, with that.
As for blogging, I totally agree. I would never have thought of myself as being a writer, yet here I am with my own website writing away with everyone else with the same dream.

I am glad I was able to offer something of interest to you.
I want parents as well as anyone, to know that work at home jobs aren’t just for us moms, even though most are geared toward moms.
I know quite a few single dads raising their children and are looking to work from home.
As for Th Chat Shop, it sounded very interesting. It seems like you have an opportunity for learning many new things by working there. To me, that would mean less boring and that is always a good thing.
      Wishing you the best,

  8. Wow that’s a great list of work at home jobs and like your title says you don’t have to be a Mom. Just as well cos I’m not !! 🙂

Years ago I taught English as a second language, working all over the world. Of course it wasn’t online, but what a great experience it was. I found it very rewarding and very interesting interacting with so many different language and culture groups.

It’s so amazing how many more jobs can be done from home and online these days. I’d have to say my favorite on your list is the blogging one, but that’s because that’s what I do. 🙂 It really suits me because one can blog about just about anything from anywhere for anyone. You do need training and tools but investment for these is relatively little compared with what you get from doing it.

It doesn’t happen overnight and is definitely not always easy, but it’s definitely possible and I can highly recommend it.

    Thanks for the great post.

    ~Mark

    • Dear Mark,
      Thank you very much.
You are the second one who has taught English as a second language.
If it wan’t online, then I would assumed you were traveling and that definitely sounds like a very interesting job.
I tend to agree with you about blogging.
It has been the best at home job for me, even though I am a mom, I also think it is for anyone.
It has it’s moments, but is well worth it.
